About Us

Established in 1986 Chemi-kal is an independent manufacturer of detergents and disinfectants for the food, dairy and beverage processing industries.

Founded by Stephen Hodge the company’s philosophy is based on the formation of working partnerships with its customers to provide solutions to all their cleansing and hygiene problems.

The Team includes:

Stephen Hodge: Managing Director

Steve has over 35 years experience in the detergents industry. He started his career with Proctor and Gamble before moving on to The NCH Corporation and then to a private detergent company serving the Food, Dairy and Beverage industries. He established Chemi-kal in 1986.
Steve has held board positions with a Football League Club, Sand and Gravel quarry, an independent school and local chamber of commerce. He is a past graduate of the Warwick Business School .

Ron Moseley: Office Manager

Ron MoseleyAfter an apprenticeship with Stewarts and Lloyds (British Steel) Ron qualified as a Mechanical Engineer. He left to further his education and obtained a Diploma in Works Management before moving into the Carpet Manufacturing Industry. Following the demise of Carpet manufacturing in 1991 he joined Chemi-Kal as a Sales Engineer. With the expansion of Chemi-Kal Ron has moved in to a broad management role running the office and managing accounts on a day to day basis, he is presently playing a key role of over seeing all engineering aspects relating to our customers BRC accreditation.
Ron for many successful years was The Chairman of Halesowen Town Football Club and still enjoys his passion of mountain climbing and hill walking.

Gary Hackett: Company Secretary

Gary HackettGary for many years was a professional footballer representing Shrewsbury Town, Aberdeen, Stoke City and West Bromwich Albion.
On joining Chemi-kal he was fast tracked through a management training programme working in logistics, office administration and sales and is currently Company Secretary. He has completed Business Management courses at Warwick Business School which has led him to specialise in meat and poultry factories, giving technical assistance on HACAAP and BRC accreditation.

Richard Phillips: Administration Manager

Richard PhillipsJoined straight from school in 1991 and underwent a management development programme so that there is not a department in Chemi-kal that Richard does not have first hand knowledge. Initially became warehouse manager and is now administration manager looking after customer care. Richard has good communication skills and is able to resource all our customers requests and queries. His sporting activities are based upon playing tennis at a high county level.

Brian Phillips: Logistics Manager

Previously involved in the food production industry Brian originally joined Chemi-kal as a vehicle driver and is recognised as “the best we ever had”. This intimate first hand knowledge of customers and their requirements has stood him in great stead in his current role as logistics manager.

Tracey Gasch

Tracey GaschTracey is in charge of our training programmes and health and safety documentation producing all hygiene schedules, training documents and material safety data sheets. When not in the office can be found in Portugal on holiday – escaping from her other hobbies, breeding chocolate Labradors and catering.
